Uncle Elder

"I'm never bored with you." - Uncle Anton to the two daughters who sneaked out again without asking

My uncle Anton's hardworking hands are not something you will ever forget. Together with his team of brothers, equally hard-working, hard-working and devoted to the values that dictate that hard work pays off, he devoted his days to work from the earliest days of his childhood. Sitting on one of their huge couches when visiting my cousin, I remember Uncle Anton, with rosy cheeks and long curls, once again recounting the difficult childhood in which he grew up. They were a poor family, four brothers and a sister, living with their father and mother in one room trying to survive. My dad often talks about the energy of youth - when you were so nimble that you never thought about the difficulty of the work as long as the reward was a kuna from the neighbor across the street. Or an apple on the way. Anton, Bernard, Rudi and my dad had nothing, so they would get up early at dawn and walk to the stand where they would sell small scoops of fruit for small meals that they would later be rewarded with by their mother in poor health. Uncle Anton was like an elder, the oldest of the brothers, making sure that each did his part (and didn't eat too many apples or puddings given away - everything was shared). The elder's uncle later married a beautiful woman and had two beautiful, now extremely successful daughters who give their father the epithets of self-sacrificing, protective and dynamic. As the heart of every family, Uncle Anton managed to simultaneously build the foundations for his female offspring, live in two locations, run a business and lead himself - always in the right direction, forever forward.
